Slow Mornings at the Parlor: Coffee, Vinyl & Good Company
Before the first clipper buzzes, there is an hour of coffee steam, old records, and island gossip. A little love letter to how our days begin.
Every shop has a rhythm, and ours starts an hour before we open. The chairs are still covered, the tools are resting, and the parlor belongs to coffee, vinyl, and whoever wanders in early.
The first hour
Someone puts a record on — blues, old rock, whatever the morning asks for. The coffee is strong and unhurried. Fishermen swap sea stories with surfers checking the swell, and the day's first appointments get quietly rearranged over second cups.
Why we keep it slow
A barber shop and tattoo studio run on trust, and trust is built in unhurried moments. The consultation before a tattoo, the chat during a shave — those are not extras here, they are the service. Rushing them would make us faster and worse.
So if you pass by in the morning and the music is playing but the sign still says closed — knock anyway. The coffee is on, the chairs are comfortable, and the island is in no hurry. Neither are we.
